My presentation will take a clinical approach to osteoporosis, my aim being that by the end of the session, students will have a basic understanding of the clinical features and how the clinician diagnoses and treats it. An example of a patient with osteoporosis will be used to make it more practical.
On the clinical side, the most common fractures will be discussed, and on the diagnostic side, the imaging techniques and laboratory tests used will be described. In the final part of the session, the drugs used in their treatment will be covered, from antiresorptives to anabolic drugs.
